RIVER OF STARS
Hammersmith 1998 The project renews the link between Hammersmith and the River Thames. Cherry trees are planted connecting King Street to the river across the A4 Great West Road. Underpasses are closed. Road traffic is slowed. The surface pedestrian route is reestablished. During the day the cherry blossom reveals the presence of the water as a foaming tide in the streets. At night LED lights in the trees create the illusion of the Milky Way reflected in the water. |
